St Marks Church, Kilbonane. 1901

Presently celebrating 100 years of worship this year, St Marks is the youngest church building in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne & Ross. It was consecrated on June 26th 1901 and on June 25th 2001 we celebrated its centenary with the help of the Bishop of Cork, Cloyne & Ross, the Right Rev Paul Colton and the Archbishop of Dublin &Bishop of Glendalough the Most Rev. Walton Empey.

The parish of Kilbonane was originally joined to the parish of Aglish from1663 until 1833 in which time there was no church in Kilbonane. In 1834 a church was built for the sum of 150, half of which was donated by the clergyman, and that building was used until the present church was built in 1901.
